Pro Running Challenge Mobile App
In an attempt to help motivate gamers that spend their lives on the sofa we have gamified the age old fitness technique of running. For the Kinect and Wii there are many fitness games that involve jogging on the spot. We want to take this experience to the streets. Nike has released their own version of a running app, we intend to build on this and create the ultimate social running app experience. Take your own personal Avatar (Possible integration with Xbox avatar?) with you wherever you run, compare avatars with friends and player from all over the world.
Our app is a running app that maps your routes and distance travelled, combining this with challenges from ingame avatars that match your running difficulty. For example, if you are a slow starter, then you can race against a slower avatar (which may visually be a larger character) and as you progress in confidence and skill with your running velocity and distance you can compete against other ingame avatars such as a professional athlete (maybe incorporate real world athletes and celebrities?)
You can share your completed challenges (against either your friends or ingame avatars) on Facebook and Google+ through posts on your walls. Another way social aspects have been incorporated is through the unlocks of achievements, which also unlocks additional outfits and props for your avatar. These too can be shared with friends and players through Facebook.
To add to the social experience your unlocks, challenges and avatar will be viewable on the apps website (www.prorunningchallenge.com) which will host your account.
Your account will display whatever accomplishments you have achieved and will also display challenges which will be updated weekly. A leaderboard (both global and friends) will be viewable for your challenges as well.
